DeJager Construction and Log Homes, Inc. is the leading log and luxury home builder in southeastern South Dakota.  It is a family-owned and operated construction company : Carolyn DeJager is President and Rick DeJager is Vice President and an authorized partner.  Rick has been involved in the construction business since 1978.  As a young man, he started his own construction company in northwest Iowa, where he quickly made a reputation for himself as a problem solver.  Although the work was satisfying, he found over the years that the repetitiveness was unchallenging.  His true interest lay in log homes and large commercial and residential developments.  Opportunities for such projects were limited in northwest Iowa, so he kept his eyes open for a new location.

For twenty years, DeJager family vacations were spent in the Lewis & Clark Lake area.  During those years, their love for the land grew, as did the realization that growth was inevitable.  In 2003, they decided to move to Yankton, South Dakota.  Since that time, they have worked non-stop to add their creativity and expertise to that of local homeowners and business owners, encouraging tourism and well-planned structural growth.  Now this innovative company is announcing its newest endeavor: filling the demand for quality construction and affordable housing.
